Mega-retailer H&M set the Internet abuzz this morning with the revelation that the year’s most polarizing new icon would be the face of its Fall 2012 print campaign. Lana Del Rey was photographed by Inez & Vinoodh for the ads, which will hit in October, after an H&M-styled music video of the singer premieres in September by Johan Renck, in which she sings the pop standard “Blue Velvet,” originally recorded by Bobby Vinton (and later immortalized by Tony Bennett and later Isabella Rossellini in David Lynch’s 1986 film of the same name).
