Lamborghini Aventador vs 911 GT2 RS vs Mercedes SLS
Lamborghini Aventador vs 911 GT2 RS vs Mercedes SLS
If the Lamborghini Aventador can live up to its performance claims, the 691bhp four-wheel drive supercar should easily beat the much cheaper Porsche 911 GT2 RS and Mercedes SLS. Clearly, the only way to find out is a drag race. You have read this article Auto Vehicle /

Exotic Resort in Greek God Apollo’s Birthplace: Mykonos Grand Hotel
Mykonos Grand Hotel in Greece is one of those places we all dream about. Having a harmonious architecture that was designed to offer tranquil moments in the presence of bright natural light, the luxurious beach resort welcomes guests with charming surrounding landscapes and comfortable interiors fit for royalty. Located where mythology tells us the God Apollo was born, the luxury resort offers 32 square meter ground floor garden view rooms in blue or orange with spacious mosaic bathrooms, 33 square meter rooms overlooking the Aegean Sea – adorned with Greek marble and typical Mykonian arch separating the bedroom from the sitting area or 37 square meter superior sea view rooms with Spa bathrooms.
In addition to these, the five different kinds of suites – with or without private pools and outdoor barbecue – can accommodate even the most pretentious guests. Located on the Ayios Yiannis beach, not far from Mykonos Town and Paradise Beach, this fantastic resort found on Adelto also pampers the gourmands with two restaurants displaying fresh seasonal cuisine and exotic flavors. Other facilities include spa, tennis and squash courts, a stone amphitheater for yoga sessions and recently renovated fitness center. I already wish I was there.

Klinikum Klagenfurt hospital complex, Klagenfurt, Austria
Austria's first 'green' hospital is afforded national architectural Award
The hospital in the park, the patient at the center; This is the simplistic, yet essential, essence to the Klinikum Klagenfurt hospital complex, recent recipient of one of the most important architectural awards in Austria - namely, the prestigious ‘Austrian Client’s Award 2011. Behind this recognition was an appreciation, for what is a prime example of future-oriented building, with an abundance of natural light penetrating to its core. The third largest hospital in the country was designed with the users closely involved in the planning process; ensuring practicality was never waylaid for image. Another enhancing benefit of this sought collaboration was to help to increase the project’s cost-efficient nature, save the client operating costs.
The hospital is the first in Austria to be certified by the EU as a Green Building. The energy concept consists of such: The heating requirement for the Medical-Surgical Center is 37% below the required value of the EPBD energy and ecology guidelines by the EU; and the cooling demand is as much as 41% percent lower. This saves the hospital four gigawatt hours of electricity per year, which corresponds approximately to the performance of two hydroelectric power plants. The investment costs are fully covered by the savings - which can be refinanced by comparing the previous pavilion structure to the new central structures - up to €22m annually.
46% of the façade is made of glass - at points stretching across several floors - establishing a direct visual connection to the river. The bottom of the window is positioned at seat height so that the patients are afforded an unobstructed view of the landscape, whilst lying in bed. The examination rooms and 14 operating rooms are equipped with modern amenities, such as a CT scanner on rails, in order to allow for a quicker-than-standard diagnosis, during surgery.

RMJM releases ambitious plans for new sustainable city near Karachi in Pakistan
In partnership with Doxiadis and Osmani Associates along with Professor Spiro Pollalis as chief planner, RMJM won a design competition in August 2010 to undertake the master planning study of DHA City in Karachi on an 11,640 acre rural site.
The masterplan consists of 50,000 residential and commercial plots, specialised healthcare and higher education institutes, theme parks, a convention centre, informal and formal sports and recreation facilities and resorts, retail and restaurants, along with all necessary community facilities.
At the heart of the new city lies the City Gateway and Downtown district that house the Central Business, Culture & Arts, Education, Central Market and Mixed-use Sub Districts. Careful consideration has been given to the distribution of land uses within this area in order to provide a vital economic and cultural heart that will support the city as it grows.
The downtown district will be defined by a car free pedestrianised spine with tree-lined pathways, garden courtyards, water features and piazza’s. This is aimed at promoting pedestrian movement to improve the quality of life for the downtown employees, visitors and residents. An efficient public transportation system will help support this.
The entire masterplan approach is focused on sustainable design principles and these principles have been implemented across the entire city. A strategy has been laid out that looks at maintaining the ecological integrity of the site through the preservation and incorporation of prominent natural features that are integrated as green fingers and wind corridors.
Construction on the new city is expected to start in early 2012, commencing with primary infrastructures and facilities. Construction of the development will then progress in stages, with full completion expected by 2030.
