Enviro Technology, the UK's leading supplier and exporter of air quality monitoring systems for ambient air quality and industrial emissions applications, recently landed a major contract with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) to help protect the public in the event of a significant air pollution incident in Scotland.
The firm has been instrumental in helping to set up SEPA's new Hazards Emergency Response (AHER) service, which has just been launched to improve the provision of information about airborne hazards during a major air pollution incident, such as an explosion or large fire to the Scottish population.
Enviro Technology has supplied SEPA with a state-of-the-art mobile air quality monitoring laboratory with highly specialised, scientific instrumentation for the real-time measurements of gases such as: nitrogen oxide, sulphur dioxide and carbon monoxide, as well as air borne particulate matter including: PM10, PM2.5 and PM1.0.
The fully equipped mobile laboratory includes Enviro Technology's very latest range of gas analysers from Teledyne API with top of the range features such as: advanced touch-screen displays, full colour high resolution screens and enhanced communications including LAN and USB connectivity. In addition, the mobile air quality monitoring laboratory includes: a meteorological mast to assess wind direction and speed, 3G internet connection, web cam, as well as data collection and analysis software.
The mobile laboratory has already been put to good use following a suspected spill from a pipeline in the Firth of Forth last month. The SEPA vehicle collected vital information, which was then passed on to Health Protection Scotland. On this occasion, monitoring showed that there was no risk to human health.

The SEPA contract win follows hot on the heels of the appointment of Alan Gardiner, responsible for business development across the whole of the Central Belt of Scotland, driving sales of Enviro Technology's top-of-the-range air pollution monitoring systems, as well as providing technical sales advice and service maintenance.
Enviro Technology already provides the England and Wales Environment Agency with a similar emergency response service, including fully equipped mobile laboratories for major air pollution incidents, which occur anywhere in England and Wales.
