Emmelie Charlotte-Victoria de Forest (born 28 February 1993), is a Danish singer. She represented Denmark with the song "Only Teardrops" in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö, Sweden, winning the contest
Emmelie de Forest was born Emmelie Engström to a Danish mother and Swedish father, Ingvar Engström (1938–2010), and started singing at age 9. She later changed her surname to that of her father. At age 14, she collaborated with Scottish musician Fraser Neill, including appearances at many festivals and cultural centres. In 2011, she moved from Mariager, Northern Jutland, to Copenhagen and registered at Katrine Sadolin's "Complete Vocal Institute" for singing students.
