Friso Dijkstra's YER floor fan is constructed of aluminum cooling fins.

Dijkstra created the YER project, meaning 'place', 'ground' or 'local', with textile designer Borre Akkersdijk for the SALON/Istanbul show during the 2012 Istanbul Biennial.

Their collaborative project, shown at the Mavra café in Istanbul, was inspired by traditional seating places and teahouses where people sit close to the floor.

Akkersdijk used his unique textile process to create a mattress for the installation.
