One-off Mercedes concept bound for L.A. Don’t get too excited. This is NOT the next-generation Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen. So says Mercedes-Benz, as it released images of its Ener-G-Force concept, a model created for the 2012 Los Angeles auto show’s Design Challenge, which asked automakers to come up with a highway law enforcement vehicle for 2025. Even so, Mercedes’ California design team looks like it was inspired by the current Galendewagen’s square-ish wheel opening, three-window glasshouse and fender-mounted turn signals. Recognizing its one-off nature, Mercedes says a 2025 “production” Ener-G-Force would be powered by recycled water converted into hydrogen housed in roof-mounted tanks.
