It takes an idea and technology to innovate unconventional things. It was a falling apple that did it for Newton. Now, it is aluminum soda can tab that has paved the way to an invention, capable of changing the way future would be. Till date, we have come across several inventions to provide an alternative to fuel automobiles. Starting from petrol to diesel, electricity, solar energy and more, we have seen it all. However, there are two Spanish engineers who thought otherwise and came up with a DAlH2Orean remote-controlled car, which runs on a combination of recycled aluminum soda can tabs and sodium hydroxide. This invention takes us to a new level of experience as it is a zero-emissions hydrogen vehicle that addresses almost all the issues including pollution, cost and efficiency.
Two geniuses Aleix Lovet and Xavier Salueña from the Polytechnic Institute of Catalonia worked recklessly to make their dream come true. The vehicle DAlH2Orean is considered as the world’s first remote-controlled car that runs on aluminum soda can tabs. How, lets have a look.
DAlH2Orean is installed with a hydrogen fuel cell that powers the car. This car draws hydrogen energy that results from a chemical reaction that takes place when aluminum tabs are treated with a solution of sodium hydroxide and water. The best thing is that the energy which is released by this reaction is clean and free from any CO2 emissions. One can also uses few filters to get more refined output.
However, the only so called limitation associated with this fuel is that it can be used only to power microcars. Whatsoever the case may be, presently, we are face to face with an invention that can change the course of our future.
